We booked Paul for the weekend to give instruction to our Scout troop - everyone had a great time and learned a lot. Paul has a great rapport with the kids. We'd definitely like to do it again next year!

Great introductory swiftwater course! I plan to go back to keep building my skills.

I have had 3 group sessions over several years with Paul. They each have been well worth it. After each session I have come away with some clear things to work on as well as the inspiration of seeing Paul's paddling control and efficiency. From the early sessions as a newbie - whatever the competency I was working at each time - Paul was able to quickly assess and target which skills to I needed to improve. I was impressed how Paul gives level appropriate individualized pointers/advice in the group lessons. Also the no stress /have fun attitude and dry humor were appreciated (especially for someone like me still working things out in moving water ..)These courses have had a big impact on my enjoyment of paddling. Definitely recommend!

It's widely recognized that Paul is an incredibly skillful and graceful paddler. On top of that, he is also an excellent instructor - knowledgable, systematic, attentive to detail and to each participant, friendly, and unexpectedly funny. I really enjoyed the WW solo course with him and would recommend it to anyone. Paul even went out of his way to organize a particularly large solo canoe for me (I'm very tall and struggle in regular-sized boats). Again, I can only recommend taking a course with him.

Took Paul's intro and intermediate tandem WW courses and they were fantastic. Paul's a skilled, earnest and fun instructor. Look forward to doing more training with him; thanks Paul!

Paul offers friendly and personalized instruction through small class size on great venues/rivers. Despite having some, albeit limited, experience with the skills being offered in Paul’s intro creeking course, there were many tips and tricks I learned that would’ve taken me another decade (at least!) to figure out on my own. I am extremely grateful for his willingness to share his knowledge on a river that happened to be close by. I look forward to future sessions.

Paul claims on his website to pride himself in his ability to pinpoint where manoeuvres are breaking down and how technique needs to be adjusted to correct your paddling. In practice, Paul's astute perception and diagnosis of an individual learner's paddling and his customized instruction to address the individual's needs do indeed make his strength as instructor. Paul individualizes instruction both in private lessons and in group lessons, where he manages to teach in a manner which is relevant to each participant at their own skill level. It is remarkable to see Paul seemingly casually improvise how to use the features available on the river right now to address what the learner needs; going with the flow as Paul seizes the day ends up being surprizingly customized to your paddling needs, and fun. Paul knows how to use few words to get at the crux of what he is correcting or teaching. The extent of Paul's perception of your paddling and personal traits affecting your paddling could be intimidating, but his quiet and kind manner let you trust him instead. Six stars.

We booked Paul for a week of instruction with our two outdoor education classes. He is an experienced paddler, an excellent instructor and has a great rapport with the kids. We hope to do it all again next year with a new set of kids.

I have really enjoyed taking a course with Paul and not only because he his knowledgeable and passionate about canoeing, but also because he is a great teacher and he is fun to be and paddle with. I'm looking forward for subscribing on another course!
